12 ad 9 Year-Old Saves Woman’s Life From a Crocodile’s Jaws

Two brothers, aged 12 and nine, have been hailed as heroes for saving a woman after a crocodile attack in Mhondoro-Ngezi.

The woman was fishing with nets on Sunday when she was attacked by the reptile.

The incident left villagers shocked as the boys put their lives in danger to repel the attack from the big reptile to save her life.

“What surprised us is that such young boys managed to win a battle against the reptile yekuti even vanhu vakuru could have failed.

“We thank these boys nevadzimu vavo for saving this woman.

“Dai tiri kumariro so,” said a villager.

Another villager said:

“Vana ava vanoda kufambwa navo, havasi vega, pane zvihombe zviri pavari.

“How can they fight such a big reptile?

“Vane zviri pavari.

“Dai tiri vamwe takatotadza kuita zvavaita izvi.

“This cannot be done by an ordinary person.”

When interviewed in a video taken shortly after the event, the boys downplayed their part in the rescue.

“She was in the water when she was dragged by the crocodile. She was bitten on the leg and she grabbed its upper mouth.

“We then got into the water and pushed a log to her. We tried to pull her to the edge, but the crocodile overpowered us.

“My brother then hit the crocodile on the mouth using a logo while I shoved a wire we found at the edge.

“My brother managed to step on its mouth and started hitting its eyes with a log and it let go of her.

“We pulled her out of the water and shouted for help as she had injuries on her leg and hands,” said the 12-year-old.
