Apply Today: Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program for Stanford University’s 2024-2025 Academic Year

The Stanford University Knight-Hennessy Scholars program develops a multicultural and multidisciplinary community of future world leaders by coaching them in teamwork, creativity, and communication to address difficult societal issues.

Through a variety of activities like community service, workshops, leadership conferences, domestic and international study trips, and personal development opportunities, the program’s King Global Leadership initiative assists scholars in broadening their knowledge, acquiring critical skills, and improving their character.

Hennessy-Knight Talented students from all seven schools of Stanford University comprise this transdisciplinary community of scholars. The curriculum gives students a platform for effective leadership development, enabling them to significantly improve the world.

Fields of Study:

Full-time Master’s and PhD programs in any subject offered at Stanford (e.g., DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, PhD). Excluded are:
Applicants to the Honors Cooperative Program
Applicants to the Master of Liberal Arts
Applicants to the Doctor of Science of Law (JSD)
Current Stanford students applying for a coterminal graduate degree
Current Stanford PhD students seeking an additional MA or MS in their current discipline

Target Group:

Open to applicants from all countries without restrictions on citizenship, age, field of study, or career aspirations.

Scholarship Benefits:

Funding is available for up to three years for graduate studies at Stanford, covering:
Tuition and associated fees through a fellowship
Living and academic expenses, including room, board, books, academic supplies, and personal expenses, through a stipend
An annual travel stipend for an economy-class ticket to and from Stanford

Additional funding includes:

A one-time relocation stipend for new scholars to cover moving and technology costs
Supplemental funds for academic enrichment activities (e.g., conference travel) available to second and third-year scholars

Eligibility Requirements:

You must apply to both the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program and a full-time Stanford graduate degree program. You must meet one of the following conditions:
Applying to KHS and a full-time Stanford graduate program to start both in the same year.
Already have deferred admission to a full-time Stanford program and applying to KHS to start both in the same year.
A current Stanford graduate student adding a second full-time degree and starting both KHS and the new program in the same year.
A first-year Stanford PhD student applying to KHS to start in the second year of your PhD.
You must have earned a U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution in January 2018 or later. For the 2025 cohort, your degree must be obtained by January 2018 or later.

Application Instructions:

To apply, submit separate applications for both the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program and your Stanford graduate degree program. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars application deadline is October 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM Pacific Time. The deadline for the Stanford graduate degree program varies, so check the specific program’s website for exact dates, which are typically earlier.
