Beaulah Chirume Launches National Cyber Security Workshop

Beaulah Chirume

Today, Beaulah Chirume, the Permanent Secretary for ICT, Postal, and Courier Services, launched a National Cyber Security Workshop in Zimbabwe. This workshop is an important step towards improving the country’s digital security.

The workshop brings together government officials, business leaders, and experts from universities. Their goal is to create a strong cyber security plan that fits Zimbabwe’s needs. With cyber threats becoming more common and advanced, it’s important to have a clear and effective response.

Chirume highlighted two main goals for the workshop. First, they want to make sure Zimbabwe’s cyber security plan matches global best practices. Second, they aim to adapt these practices to fit the specific challenges in Zimbabwe.

The workshop is special because it encourages teamwork among different groups. Government departments will discuss the need for new rules and policies. Business leaders will share their views on new threats and ways to defend against them. University experts will provide research and ideas to support the new strategies.

Key topics for discussion will include finding current weaknesses in cyber security, checking existing protections, and looking at new technologies and methods to detect and prevent cyber attacks. The aim is to develop a plan that not only reduces risks but also strengthens the country’s defenses against cyber threats.

Chirume’s leadership shows that Zimbabwe is taking cyber security seriously. As digital technology grows, protecting information and communication systems is crucial for both public and private sectors.
