Bothwell Nkomo, a 28-year-old man from Victoria Falls, stands accused of strangling his girlfriend to death after accusing her of infidelity. Shockingly, he allegedly kept her body in his room for two days following the gruesome act.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday night in the Low Density suburb where Nkomo worked as a domestic worker. Authorities have confirmed Nkomo’s arrest in connection with the murder of his 24-year-old girlfriend, who had visited him prior to the fatal confrontation.

This case sheds light on the disturbing trend of crimes of passion that continue to plague communities. While the exact circumstances leading to the woman’s death remain unclear, it is speculated that a heated argument or physical altercation may have preceded the fatal strangulation.

Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda, stated that investigations into the matter are currently underway. According to Banda, Bothwell Nkomo admitted to committing the crime upon discovering his girlfriend’s alleged infidelity.

In light of this tragic incident, Banda urged individuals embroiled in conflicts to seek peaceful resolutions, warning that law enforcement in Matabeleland North would not hesitate to take action against those who resort to violence, particularly against women.

In a separate incident reported by Insp Banda, three men were arrested in Mbembesi for allegedly stealing nine goats from a villager in Ntabazinduna. The suspects were apprehended after attempting to drive away with the stolen goats, but were intercepted by vigilant villagers who alerted the police.

Insp Banda emphasized the importance of community vigilance in combating crime, urging farmers to enhance security measures for their livestock, including branding them for identification purposes. Additionally, he encouraged community members to utilize communication platforms such as WhatsApp groups to share information and collaborate.
