The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) has introduced a ban on advertisements featuring prophets, traditional healers, and unverified traditional medicines, citing the need to safeguard the public from misleading claims.

In a notice issued to major broadcasters, including Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, ZiFM, and Star FM, BAZ emphasized the ethical duty of these stations to prevent the dissemination of unproven information to consumers.

This regulatory measure aligns with the Broadcasting Services Code of Conduct and Licensing Regulations, which seek to uphold media integrity. The ban reflects growing concerns over misleading advertisements that could pose risks to public health and safety.

However, BAZ clarified that discussions and debates on related topics are still permitted as long as they do not include promotional content.

Following the directive, the popular “Tilda Live Show,” which frequently addresses spiritual and traditional healing topics, is expected to shift its focus to dialogue rather than promotional segments.
