Charity Chidziwa (23) has appeared before the Mbare Magistrates Court charged with the murder of her ex-husband Prosper Masimba Chibisa.
According to what the court was told, the dead and the accused had split up, with Charity Chidziwa going back to her parents’ house but still spending occasional evenings together.
Following a violent altercation in January 2024 over a contraceptive implant, Chidziwa stabbed Chibisa in the left armpit. He was declared dead at the hospital after he bled heavily.
The accused was wed to the dead Prosper Masimba Chibisa from 2021, according to the State’s case. They had a disagreement sometime in January 2024, which led the accused individual to return to her parents’ house, which is close to where they remained in her husband’s company. After their split, the two used to spend the nights together.

“The two were in the deceased’s house on April 2, 2024, at about 1800 hours, using the deceased’s mobile to watch a movie. When the deceased inquired of the accused as to why she was given a ten-year contraception implant rather than a five-year one, there was miscommunication. The State said that once the argument turned physical, the accused took a knife and stabbed the victim in the left armpit.
“The deceased bled heavily before being taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.”
The case was remanded until April 17, 2024.
