China Supports Total Removal Of Sanctions on Zimbabwe

Cde Jiang Xinzhi, a senior official and Vice Chairman of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference representing the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), reiterated China’s steadfast support for Zimbabwe during a closed-door meeting with President Mnangagwa at State House yesterday.

Accompanied by a delegation of Chinese officials, Cde Jiang’s visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding ties between Zimbabwe and China, which were bolstered during President Mnangagwa’s State visit to China in 2018.

During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to each other as close friends, emphasizing mutual support and cooperation in various spheres. Cde Jiang Xinzhi also engaged with Zanu PF Chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and several Politburo members at the party’s headquarters in Harare.

Highlighting the significance of strategic cooperation, Cde Jiang emphasized the historic electoral victory of Zanu PF in the previous year’s harmonized general elections. He stressed the importance of aligning the consensus between Presidents Mnangagwa and Xi Jinping to further strengthen the bond between the two nations.

“We stand with Zimbabwe in calls for the comprehensive removal of sanctions, defense of its sovereignty, and the pursuit of security interests,” stated Cde Jiang. “Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1980, we stand ready for cooperation with Zimbabwe in mining, agriculture, and infrastructure development.”

In response, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering support and highlighted the significant improvements in trade and economic cooperation between Zimbabwe and China. She acknowledged China’s vital contributions during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle and underscored the importance of ongoing exchanges to enhance bilateral relations.

The meeting was attended by various Politburo members, including National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha, Cde July Moyo, and Advocate Fortune Chasi.
