Club Zone Owner 'JB' Accused of Brutal Assault on Student

A STUDENT, who claims he was assaulted by Club Zone boss Blessed “JB” Charakupa, says he suffered a torn lip and lost two of his teeth from the vicious nature of the attack.

Tanaka Tamayi took to the witness stand at the Harare Magistrates Court and narrated how Charakupa hit him on the mouth, head and face after he had tried to rescue his brother who was being assaulted by the businessman and his gang.

“I was assaulted with fists on my mouth, head and face and suffered a broken lip and two of my teeth got broken.”

Asked by prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah how he identified Charakupa as his assailant, considering the lighting during the night attack.

“I know him very well because I lost my teeth that night so there’s no way I could not have identified my assailant.

She further quizzed Tamayi on Charakupa’s defence that they connived to falsely implicate him.

“I never connived with anyone because I headed to the police station soon after and there was no chance for me to fabricate these allegations as I was in pain.

“I wasn’t drunk because I had to drive my parents home so I positively identified him.

“He further said ‘you don’t know me, I’m JB’, and his goons also said ‘don’t you know Boss JB?’” said Tamayi.

The Stats is alleging that on January 27, the two complainants – Obert Masvotore and Tanaka Tamayi – were at a party at a club in the capital with their friends and family.
