Cougan Matanhire, a well-known Seventh-Day Adventist preacher and the CEO of Sizwe Global, was intercepted just as he was about to secretly marry a second wife in an undisclosed ceremony.
Suspicious of her husband’s intentions, Matanhire’s wife hired a private investigator, Tafadzwa Chidawa, to track his movements. The investigation led to a dramatic revelation in Hwedza, where Matanhire was preparing to pay lobola for his second wife.
Matanhire, a respected business leader with over 20 years of experience in corporate governance, had attempted to keep the details of this marriage under wraps. Organizers went to great lengths, even masking the identities of the bride and groom on ceremonial banners, in a bid to ensure complete secrecy.
However, Chidawa’s investigation proved to be thorough, and he successfully located Matanhire as he prepared for the lobola payment.
Known for his hands-on approach to leadership and his reputation for integrity within the Seventh-Day Adventist community, Matanhire’s actions have sent shockwaves through both his professional and religious circles. His position as a preacher within the SDA Church, which upholds strict moral guidelines, has made this scandal particularly damaging.
Adding complexity to the matter, Chidawa reportedly reminded Matanhire of Section 5.11 of Zimbabwe’s Marriages Act, which explicitly prohibits individuals in registered monogamous marriages from taking additional spouses. This legal reference added further pressure to Matanhire’s already precarious situation, both morally and legally.
Matanhire, known for his structured approach to business and his reputation for upholding ethical standards in his professional life, now faces a stark contrast between his work in corporate governance and his personal life. As an expert in organizational design, strategic innovation, and business modeling, Matanhire’s careful attention to detail and integrity in business decisions seem to stand in sharp contrast to his private actions.
