A tragic incident occurred in Mberengwa last Sunday when a woman lost her life in a crocodile attack while fetching water from Mundi Dam. Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident.
The attack took place around 11 a.m. when 47-year-old Thokozile Gumbo of Somerai Village, Chief Chingoma, went to collect water while her husband, Adrine Moyo, went to gather firewood. Upon returning home an hour later, Moyo noticed his wife had not returned and went to the dam to look for her.
When he arrived, villagers informed him that a crocodile had dragged a woman into the water. A search was carried out, and Gumbo’s body was recovered with severe injuries, including a fractured right leg and bite marks on her thighs.
