Darikwa Signs One-Year Deal with Lincoln City
City have secured the signature of attacking right-back Tendayi Darikwa on a one-year deal with an additional one-year option.

Tendayi Darikwa has found a new home in English football after departing Cypriot side Apollon Limassol.

The Zimbabwean defender has joined English League One club Lincoln City on a free transfer, marking his return to English football.

Darikwa’s exit from Apollon Limassol came after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract, just one year into his stint with the Cypriot club. His departure was unexpected, but he quickly found a new opportunity with Lincoln City, a club that sees his experience and leadership as valuable assets.

Lincoln City announced the signing with enthusiasm, highlighting Darikwa’s proven track record and leadership qualities. “City have secured the signature of attacking right-back Tendayi Darikwa on a one-year deal with an additional one-year option.

Darikwa brings with him bags of divisional experience having captained Wigan Athletic to the League One title in the 2021/22 season,” the club stated.

Darikwa, 32, expressed his excitement about joining Lincoln City and his desire to contribute to the team’s ambitions. “I’m delighted to be here and have the deal done.

The ambition of the football club stood out to me and it’s a club with great values,” he said. Reflecting on Lincoln’s near play-off miss last season, Darikwa added, “The club was so close to getting in the play-offs last season, and I feel we can build on that.I want to be a part of it, I want to help and hopefully we can do that together.”

The experienced defender also emphasized his readiness to share his knowledge and experience with Lincoln’s young squad. “I can pass my experiences over the years onto a young squad with plenty of talent. I can have an influence in the dressing room as we learn about each other on and off the pitch,” he remarked.

Darikwa’s move to Lincoln City is seen as a strategic addition to the team, potentially boosting their prospects for the upcoming season in League One.
