Director of Builders Power House ‘Elson Kufa’ Defrauds Client Off R422 000

Katsimberis intimidates prosecutors, Deputy Prosecutor General Reza Speaks!

The director of a nearby business was accused of stealing R422,500 in trust property after he failed to turn over the money he made from selling two hundred ceiling boards on behalf of a customer who paid for the boards’ stocking.

The director made his court appearance yesterday.

Elson Kufa, the director of the Murehwa-based Builders Power House, appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi on a charge of larceny involving trust property.

Mr. Zebediah Bofu, the prosecutor, claimed that on October 5, Kufa went to Mr. Francis Kawaza at his house and told him that Builders Power House was his supplier of ceiling boards.

He added that he could assist Mr Kawaza in obtaining a licence to purchase gold.

Although Mr. Kawaza was interested in both agreements, he decided to start by providing money for the ceiling board supply. After receiving the banking information from Kufa, Mr. Kawaza wired R422 573,50—which included freight costs—to Tensent Investments Pvt Ltd.

The funds were used to purchase two hundred ceiling boards, which were shipped to Kufa for sale before the funds were transferred to Kawaza.

All of the ceiling boards were sold by Kufa through the Harare-based Builders Hub.

Mr. Kawaza tried to recover the money from Kufa after finding out that he had sold the consignment, but to no avail.

As a result of Kufa’s repeated attempts to justify himself, Mr. Kawaza filed a police report.

Mr. Kawaza did not make any recovery and lost R422 573,50.
