Harare, Zimbabwe | A fire broke out at the Southerton Police Station in Harare this afternoon, resulting in significant damage to several vehicles.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the blaze originated from an electricity pylon and rapidly spread through the exhibit yard of the Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS), burning 12 vehicles in the process.

“The ZRP confirms that investigations are being conducted in connection with a fire incident which occurred this afternoon at ZRP Southerton Police Station complex, which houses the Duty Uniform Branch (DUB) and CID Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS),” police said in a statement.
The fire reportedly started at an electricity pylon within the police station complex and quickly engulfed the VTS exhibit yard, where vehicles linked to ongoing investigations are stored.
