Mrs. Jane Chiduku, the grieving mother of the late Shelton Chiduku, who was tragically shot by ex-fugitive Peter Dube over alleged infidelity three years ago, couldn’t hold back her tears upon witnessing Dube’s arrival at the Gweru magistrate court.
Peter Dube, escorted by heavily armed police officers, drew the attention of a crowd eager to witness the trial for the triple murder case. Mrs. Chiduku, still grappling with the trauma of losing her son, yearns for justice to prevail.
Expressing her anguish, Mrs. Chiduku condemned Dube’s ruthless actions, emphasizing that her son’s life shouldn’t have been taken over unverified suspicions of infidelity. She lamented the irreparable loss and expressed hope for a fair trial.

At the court appearance, Dube faced charges of murder and attempted murder. Despite pleading not guilty in his statement, his legal representative, Tuso Omega Maputsenyika, argued mistreatment upon his arrest, citing constitutional rights.
Magistrate Beaulity Dube, presiding over the case, denied bail, citing Dube as a flight risk due to his history of evading authorities. Concerns were also raised about potential harm to state witnesses, given their relation to the accused.
The case was adjourned to April 17th, with prosecutors Helen Khosa and Vivian Chindedza handling the proceedings.
