The founder of Jesus Generation International Ministries, Prophet Edd Branson, has issued a public confession following the circulation of two controversial videos that have ignited a firestorm across social media. The footage features the clergyman alongside the late fitness trainer and socialite Mitchelle “Moana” Amuli, who tragically perished in the same car accident that claimed the life of businessman Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure.
The videos, which depict a visibly intoxicated Branson in close proximity to Moana, have sparked intense debate regarding the conduct of religious leaders in Zimbabwe.
A Plea of “Past Immaturity”
In a video response aimed at damage control, Branson did not deny the authenticity of the footage but claimed the content was being misinterpreted. He argued that the videos were captured several years ago during a period of personal friction.
“It is very unfortunate that the way those videos emerged, the situation was misconstrued. It portrays the late Moana and me in a light that does not reflect reality,” Branson stated.
He further explained that the tense atmosphere in the clips was the result of a heated dispute. “We had an argument because we were immature at the time. This is an old video—we have even forgotten exactly when it was taken—but it was a moment where both of us acted out of anger and immaturity.”
Admission of a “Double Life”
Perhaps more striking than the explanation of the videos was Branson’s candid admission that his personal lifestyle had drifted far from the expectations of his ministerial calling. He revealed that he had been struggling with personal attributes that were inconsistent with his role as a “Man of God.”
Branson disclosed that these internal conflicts led to his decision nearly six months ago to step away from the pulpit to undergo a process of spiritual restoration.
“As a man of God, I wasn’t happy with certain attributes of my life. I knew what I had to correct,” he confessed. “Five months ago, I came out in front of the world and openly admitted that the way I was living was not how I wanted it to be.”
The Prophet emphasized that his current absence from active ministry is a deliberate period of “fixing” his relationship with the divine. He noted that he required time away from the public eye and the church to ensure he was “standing right with God.”
While the timing of the leaked videos—surfacing just as the nation mourns the victims of the Borrowdale Road accident—has drawn criticism, Branson insists that his path to reformation began long before the footage went viral.
