After being detained for raping a 16-year-old girl from Kuwadzana and taking her as a wife to hide the crime, a 36-year-old guy from Mbare, Harare, is currently being held in remand prison.
When her parents approached Kudzai Masakadze, the man who had impregnated the girl, once it became apparent that he was treating her terribly, the marriage arrangement fell apart.
At Sally Mugabe Maternity Hospital, the girl gave birth to twin girls lately, and she was showered with gifts from her well-wishers.
Representatives from Little Mr. and Miss Africa Zimbabwe, under the direction of Shalom Ramunyenyiwa, were among the benefactors.
Shalom encouraged the community and parents to keep protecting children in an interview with H-Metro. Says she:

This week saw the arrest of Masakadze, the man who is suspected of having impregnated the Form 4 student before getting married and then deserting her.
He acknowledged getting the girl pregnant in an interview with H-Metro, stating he worked with her parents to get some of the money she needed for her Ordinary Level Examination.
He later abandoned her after her parents confronted him regarding allegations of physical abuse against their daughter.
The arrest of Masakadze was confirmed by Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Harare Province, on Tuesday, October 1. He said:
Police arrested a Mbare man for rape. His victim, a Form 4 student, is pregnant.
Masakadze has since appeared in court and was remanded in custody where he is facing rape charges.
