The government has rescinded the suspension of licenses for three public transport operators following a thorough review of their operations.
Swaymo Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd, trading as Blue Circle; Wipeco Investments (Pvt) Ltd, trading as City Bus, and Simlex Coaches (Pvt) Ltd had their licenses suspended after being involved in recent fatal accidents.
Their buses were temporarily withdrawn from service pending an assessment by authorities to ensure compliance with regulations.
Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona announced the lifting of the suspension during a press briefing in Harare, stating that all buses owned by these operators can resume operations from June 3, 2024.

Minister Mhona explained that the operators had violated the terms of their licenses, leading to fatal accidents on March 9 and 16, 2024, in Western Cape, South Africa, and Beitbridge, respectively.
They were found to have operated public service vehicles without valid motor and passenger insurances, certificates of roadworthiness, road service permits, installed speed monitoring and limiting devices, and employed drivers lacking the necessary competencies.
