A Harare woman, Melocia Gwata, has sought legal protection from her husband, George Kusotera, due to his excessive and coercive ‘lula lula’ (intimacy) demands.
Melocia revealed that George insisted on intimacy every day, even waking her up multiple times a night, despite already being intimate several times that day . This has taken a significant toll on her mental well-being, leaving her with barely any sleep .
Melocia claimed George assaulted her whenever she refused to comply with his demands, which worsened over time .

He allegedly told her he wanted intimacy eight times per night and threatened to divorce her if she continued rejecting him . The situation became increasingly distressing, with assaults occurring in front of their children .
George acknowledged Melocia’s concerns, attributing his behavior to deep affection . He apologized for making her uncomfortable and promised not to physically abuse her, considering her feelings .
Judge Judith Taruvinga granted Melocia a protection order against George, taking her claims seriously . This decision reflects the severity of the allegations and the need to protect Melocia from further harm.
