Mascline Makore, Jessica Munenzou, and Nyasha Chadete allegedly teamed up to assault their colleague, Christabel Mutamurwa, at a Harare hair salon, accusing her of plotting to have them fired. Mutamurwa successfully obtained a peace order against the three women after presenting evidence in court that they had been abusing her.
According to Mutamurwa, the trio physically attacked her, accusing her of gossiping with the salon owner about them. “They ganged up on me, punching and kicking me,” she claimed, adding that Munenzou threatened her with scissors and cut her on the left hand, neck, and stomach. Mutamurwa also mentioned a previous incident in which Makore allegedly broke a glass in her hand and attacked her with a fork before locking her outside the salon.
In response, Munenzou argued that she was provoked by Mutamurwa. “She attacked me first, and my friends intervened. She claims we bullied her, but I was only defending myself,” Munenzou said. She further claimed that Mutamurwa had previously assaulted her, leading to Mutamurwa’s arrest and detention, and suggested that the current dispute was a form of retaliation.
After hearing both sides, Magistrate Meenal Narotam determined that the defense provided by the trio was false and urged them to maintain peace moving forward.
