Harare Man Bites Dog to Save Child from Vicious Attack
In a harrowing incident on Saturday, a man named Phillip found himself in a life-saving struggle as he intervened to rescue three-year-old Takunda Junior Nyandoro from a vicious dog attack. The dramatic rescue unfolded when Phillip, out for a jog with his own two dogs, witnessed Takunda being mauled by his pets along the street.
Realizing the imminent danger, Phillip sprang into action, employing desperate measures to fend off the attacking dogs and save the child. In a moment of sheer bravery and quick thinking, Phillip resorted to biting one of his own dogs to distract it from its assault on Takunda.

The swift response of both Phillip and medical professionals played a crucial role in ensuring Takunda received the necessary care without delay.

Reflecting on the incident, Takunda’s father, Kelvin Nyandoro, expressed gratitude for Phillip’s courageous intervention but noted a lack of remorse from Phillip regarding the incident. Despite this, the focus remains on Takunda’s recovery and the community’s acknowledgment of Phillip’s heroic actions in a moment of crisis.
This heart-wrenching event serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of animal behavior and the profound impact of human intervention in times of peril. Phillip’s selfless act stands as a testament to the power of decisive action in the face of adversity, ultimately saving a young life from further harm
“My child sustained serious head injuries, traumatised and is even showing signs of being disturbed by the incident.
“Had he not kept his head down during the attack, the vicious dog could have cut off his throat.
“What is disturbing me is the attitude shown by Phillip.
“Besides failing to lead his dogs, he disappeared from his house and never showed any remorse. His parents are also not forthcoming, as well as the investigating police officer.
“Ndiri mushandi anotambura asina mari apa mwana wangu arikuda mari yakawanda yekuti arapwe, vakamurumisa nembwa dzavo havasikubatika,” said Kelvin.
