Greendale, Harare East, Zimbabwe | There was drama in Greendale, Harare, when a team led by Justice Maphios Cheda paused Mayor Jacob Mafume’s testimony to visit a property he claimed was his home.
The team found that the property, located at 1110 Coronation Road, Greendale, was not a house but a vehicle auction site.
When Mayor Mafume tried to explain, Judge Cheda told him to do so later.
The team decided to visit the location after realizing that Mayor Mafume had given false information under oath.
Mayor Mafume said it was a mistake and that his actual house was two blocks away.
However, the team did not accept his explanation and continued with the inspection.
Now, the group, including journalists and officials, is returning to the Disaster Management Centre, where the public hearings are taking place.
