The Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship program offers 24 full scholarships of €30,000 each academic year. These scholarships are designed for highly talented students from outside the European Union (EU) who have been accepted into a Master’s program at UM.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions: The scholarship covers living expenses (€15,925 for 13 months; €30,625 for 25 months), health and liability insurance (€700), visa application costs (at cost), tuition fees (at cost), and pre-academic training costs. The High Potential scholarship is awarded for the duration of the Master’s program—13 months for one-year programs and 25 months for two-year programs.

Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a national of a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Suriname, and qualify for an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
- Not hold dual nationality with an EU/EEA country.
- Have applied for admission to a full-time Master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Meet the specific admission requirements for the UM Master’s program to which they have applied.
- Have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education program, primary education program, or secondary education program in the Netherlands. However, students who have completed exchange programs in the Netherlands may apply.
- Be no older than 35 years on September 1, 2025.
- Have achieved excellent results in previous educational programs, with a GPA of 7.5 out of 10 or higher as shown in their latest transcript.
- Submit an application only once and ensure all documents meet the requirements, as no changes can be made after submission.
Application Instructions: To apply for the scholarship, candidates must first register for one of the participating Master’s programs at Maastricht University. After submitting the application via Studielink, they will receive a student ID number, which is needed to complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form. Candidates must log in with their UM account to fill out the scholarship application, upload the required documents, and submit the application online. The application deadline is February 1, 2025, at 23:59 CET.
