Kenya: 60 people die due to flooding

Kenya is grappling with heavy rainfall that’s causing widespread disruptions and significant challenges. The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) reports that the ongoing rain has led to the loss of 44 lives and has caused destruction to property across the country. Approximately 60,000 people have been affected by these intense downpours, highlighting the scale of the impact.

In Nairobi’s Mathare slums, which are home to many low-income earners, residents have been left stranded in their homes due to severe flooding triggered by a recent rainstorm. The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that more rainfall is expected, including heavy downpours, across different regions of the country. This forecast underscores the ongoing challenges and risks posed by the continuing rains.
