A deceitful individual Lanky Chikoti, masquerading as an official from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZAAC), attempted to swindle his way out of paying for a traffic violation in Harare but was apprehended after the Commission disowned him.
Lanky Chikoti, the imposter found himself in legal trouble after being arrested and brought before magistrate Stanford Mambanje. He was subsequently granted bail set at US$200.
According to court proceedings, the incident unfolded on March 12, when vigilant officials from the City of Harare Traffic Section, under the leadership of Sergeant Alexio, were stationed at the intersection of Fife Avenue and Leopold Takawira. Their attention was drawn to a poorly parked Mercedes Benz along Fife Avenue.
Approaching Chikoti, one of the City of Harare Traffic officers informed him of the traffic violation and indicated their intent to impound his vehicle. In a brazen attempt to evade accountability, Chikoti falsely claimed to be an officer from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, asserting immunity from such penalties.

In a bid to substantiate his fabricated identity, Chikoti flaunted an identification card purporting his affiliation with the National Anti-Corruption organization. However, upon scrutiny by the traffic officer, it was discovered that the card bore Chikoti’s details, with the organization’s name listed as “National Anti-Corruption.”
Suspicions aroused, the traffic officer sought confirmation from his superior, located a short distance away. Subsequently, contact was made with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission to verify Chikoti’s purported affiliation. Shockingly, the Commission promptly disclaimed any association with the fraudulent individual.
Realizing his ruse had been exposed, Chikoti attempted to flee the scene but was swiftly apprehended by other officers when he found himself trapped in traffic.
