Lomagundi College Robbed...Robbers Get Away With Gun, Laptops, cellphones and Car!

On Tuesday night, ten armed robbers terrorised the workers and security of Lomagundi College. They then detonated an empty cash safe, took smartphones, computers, and a Mazda Tribute car.

An undisclosed sum of money was taken from the principal’s office by the gang.

However, they did not receive the anticipated result from their primary goal, which was to steal a significant amount of money from the school after supposing it would have thousands of dollars in levies and taxes on the property.

The majority of the funds gathered from levies and fees had been retained by the school administration in the bank.

Tendai Masombo, the deputy head of the institution, was attacked while he was making his way back to the college, and the five security officers on duty that evening were subdued.

The robbery was timed to coincide with the first day of the new term, with the robbers gambling that the elite school would be awash with cash.

The raid came three days after a group of armed robbers pounced at George Silundika High School in Nyamandlovu and got away with US$17 280, which was in the cash box.

“As the schools open, parents and guardians are in the process of paying school fees, levies and other related school costs, for their children,” said police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

“School authorities are, therefore, urged to deposit all monies at financial institutes to curb armed robbery cases.

“The issue of collecting cash by school authorities at schools should be reconsidered in view of the recent armed robbery cases.
