The Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship program offers 21 full scholarships of €30,000 each academic year for exceptional students from outside the European Union (EU) who have been accepted into a Master’s program at UM. This amount includes a tuition fee waiver and a monthly stipend.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions:
The scholarship covers living expenses (€15,925 for 13 months; €30,625 for 25 months), health and liability insurance (€700), visa application costs (at cost), tuition fees (at cost), and pre-academic training expenses. The High Potential scholarship is granted for the duration of the Master’s program—13 months for one-year programs and 25 months for two-year programs.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a national from a non-EU/EEA country, Switzerland, or Suriname, and meet the criteria for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
- Not hold dual nationality from an EU/EEA country.
- Have applied for admission to a full-time Master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Meet specific admission criteria for the chosen Master’s program.
- Have no prior participation in degree-seeking higher education, primary, or secondary education in the Netherlands (exchange students are eligible).
- Be under 35 years of age as of September 1, 2025.
- Have achieved excellent academic results, with a GPA of 7.5 out of 10 or higher on the latest grade transcript.
- Submit an application only once; all documents must meet the requirements at the time of submission, as no changes can be made afterward.
Application Instructions:
To apply for the scholarship, first register for one of the participating Master’s programs at Maastricht University. After submitting your application through Studielink, you will receive a student ID number, which is necessary for completing the Scholarship Application Form. You must log in with your UM account to fill out the form, upload the required documents, and submit your application online. The application deadline is February 1, 2025, at 23:59 CET.
