The police have detained a 53-year-old man from Masvingo, along with his three daughters, in connection with the alleged murder of his parents, whom they accused of practicing witchcraft and bringing misfortune to the family.
According to Commissioner Paul Nyathi, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the incident occurred on October 11, 2024, at approximately 7 AM in Chorupanga Village, Nyajena, Masvingo.
The victims have been identified as Tizirai Chidinhika, aged 77, and his 92-year-old wife, Miriam Polisiri. The suspects include Rameck Chidinhika and his daughters: Constancia Chidinhika, 28; Vimbai Chidinhika, 19; and a 15-year-old juvenile.
In a separate case, authorities are seeking information related to the murder of Jabson Bunukwa Kwangwari, 35, whose body was discovered on the same day in Village 1 Runhare, Chiredzi.
The victim’s remains were found in an advanced state of decomposition, with severe cuts on his head and arm. A blood-stained axe was also recovered from the scene.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has emphasized the importance of valuing human life and encourages families to resolve their conflicts peacefully rather than resorting to violence. They advise seeking guidance from local police, traditional leaders, and church elders for conflict resolution.
