Mines Inspector ‘Antony Singende’ Arrested Over USD350 Extortion

Katsimberis intimidates prosecutors, Deputy Prosecutor General Reza Speaks!

MARONDERA | The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commision (ZACC) arrested Mashonaland East Provincial Mines Inspector Antony Singende on allegations of extortion.

Singende allegedly demanded payment from Koodoo 83 Mine Manager, Virimai Nyamvura, to have his blasting licence endorsed.

Nyamvura reported the matter to ZACC, and a trap was set, leading to the accused’s arrest just after receiving the $350.00 he had demanded.

It is a requirement, in terms of mining regulations, for a mine manager to have a blasting licence endorsed by a Mines Inspector from the Ministry of Mines to enable him to lawfully operate.

Singende is set to appear at Marondera Magistrates Court today.
