SungurA artist Simon Mutambi has promised fireworks for this year’s Uhuru celebration on April 18 at Murambinda Growth Point in Buhera.
The Cobra Kings’ manager described it as an honour to be invited to perform at this year’s 44th Independence Gala.
“To be honest, I’m honoured to be chosen one of the performers at this year’s Uhuru Bash.
“Of course, I’ve been a regular performer at State gatherings, but my inclusion is very important to my brand.
“I will always cherish the faith that the event organisers have in me, as a mere Simon Mutambi from Beatrice.”
He added:
“It’s not easy to be recognised in Zimbabwe, which is blessed with many artists.
“As someone who comes from Beatrice, a humble place like that, to be invited to perform at such big events means a lot.
“I feel I am an inspiration to other artists from humble places whose dreams can also easily come true.”
Several artists are set to perform at the event.
Last “Tambaoga” Chiangwa is set to take part in the event alongside Suluman Chimbetu, Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria and Sandra Ndebele.
Chief Hwenje of the Mai Welly fame, DJ Fantan, Shantel Sithole, Diana Samkange, Andy Muridzo, Argatha Murudzwa, Mathias Mhere, Bigboy Motsi, Takura, Bio Mudimba and Mark Ngwazi are also part of the bill.
Last year’s edition of the Independence Day celebrations were held in Mt Darwin.
