A resident of Harare appeared in court accusing her neighbor of killing her husband. Magistrate Meenal Naratom issued a peace order in favor of Chipo Kumbula, who has alleged that her neighbor, Gugulethu Kambanye, attacked her with stones and was responsible for her husband’s death.
Chipo claimed that Gugulethu had threatened to kill her family, and the following morning, her husband was found dead.
“She killed my husband,” Chipo asserted. “She threatened my family, and I woke up to find my husband dead. I live in fear because she continues to threaten me.”
Chipo further accused Gugulethu of throwing stones at her, labeling her a witch, and spreading rumors among other neighbors that Chipo killed her husband for rituals.

“Last week, she threw stones at me,” Chipo said. “She tells people that I’m a witch who killed my husband for rituals and even said I’m lucky to be alive.”
Gugulethu, however, denied the accusations, alleging that Chipo’s claims were fabricated and aimed at having her wrongfully arrested.
“She wants me arrested to take control of my property,” Gugulethu claimed. “Chipo is lying; she is the one who assaults me and my children. She’s making up stories to get me arrested so she can build on my land.”
