Gilbert “Gidza Boy” Kanzira, a rising Afro-pop musician, claims to have a well-thought-out plan for balancing his time between education and music.
In addition to his pursuit of notoriety and perhaps some financial gain, he feels he has the ability to inspire other young people and have a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
When Gidza Boy launched his breakthrough album Manake two years ago, it became an immediate hit and signalled his presence.
The Form Two pupil, whose sing-along hit “Need You” is at the top of the charts, is currently in the studio working on Gidza Boy and Friends, a new EP that he hopes to release in the upcoming months.
Gidza Boy said to H-Metro that he is forcing himself to keep working hard in order to succeed in the competitive music industry.
“I am driven to work extra hard to be a trailblazer because, as a musician, I know how important it is to work hard to build your identity and brand.
“I want to alter the music industry one day so that all musicians in the nation profit from it, and in order to make that happen, I need to keep pushing myself to the absolute maximum.
He declared, “One day, I wish to change all that. There are many musicians in this country, and some of them are struggling to enjoy the fruits of their hard work.”
The youthful performer has collaborated with well-known artists including Herman Ndinamatire, Shantel Sithole Amai Vangu, Holy Ten Pangu Ndapedza, and Mathias Mhere on the song Ziso.

He claims he looks up to Jah Prayzah and Winky D and aspires to collaborate with them in the future.
“I respect Jah Prayzah and Winky D’s work ethics and the dedication they have shown in achieving success.
He remarked, “I hope to get the chance to work with them someday so I can pick up a few tips from them.”
