Trust Pokello to shut down the city with style — but this time, the drama didn’t end with the glitz and glam. At the launch of her brand-new champagne last week, the socialite revealed that some of her classy guests couldn’t keep their hands off the bubbly.
Spilling the tea on Instagram, Pokello laughed about the wild moment:
“Can I tell you, people ended up stealing bottles at the launch? As classy as that event looked, as classy as those people looked, people loved the product so much they ended up stealing bottles. But anyway … my point is, we produced the final blend that we have now.”
Yes, darling — the champagne was literally so good that guests couldn’t wait for a refill; they had to pocket some!
But this bubbly journey wasn’t overnight. Pokello revealed the idea was born back in 2019 while she was on holiday in Florence, Italy. From there, it was a long road of samples, delays, and the Covid-19 pandemic putting everything on ice.
“We got six different samples, but I wasn’t impressed. Then Covid hit and everything stopped. We only picked it up again in 2022,” she said.
And here’s the kicker — Pokello isn’t even a hardcore drinker. She only started drinking at 33, and champagne is the only thing she touches.
“I don’t do vodka, I don’t do anything else — just champagne. That’s why I wanted something light on the palate. We kept going back and forth until finally, we nailed the perfect blend,” she added.
If the stolen bottles are anything to go by, Pokello’s champagne is already a certified hit. Forget popping bottles — guests were pocketing them!
