A pregnant woman Bertha Chindewere from Harare stunned her married boyfriend when she decided to make a bold move and introduce herself to his wife via a midnight phone call.
Bertha Chindewere approached her lover, Anesu Dumbura, and said she was fed up with being kept in the dark about his family affairs. She then went ahead and made the surprise call to his wife. When asked for his thoughts on the situation, Anesu declined to respond.
Their turbulent past had brought them before the Chitungwiza Magistrates Court in December, following a money dispute.
Bertha clarified that she preferred that Anesu publicly recognise their connection instead of continuing to treat her as a covert mistress. Bertha persisted in telling Anesu’s wife about her pregnancy in spite of threats.
But Anesu gave a negative response, suggesting that Bertha’s acts were the start of a string of errors on her side.

Particularly considering that she was pregnant, Bertha expressed her displeasure at Anesu’s hesitation to present her to his family. Even if at first Anesu agreed, she started to shun her and gave phone conversations more importance than in-person encounters.
When Anesu broke his promise to introduce her to his family, Bertha felt abandoned and finally took matters into her own hands, calling Anesu’s wife.
They also talked about possible names for their unborn child throughout their meetings.
