Zimdancehall artist Nyasha Reginald ‘Ras Pompy’ Mano has denied allegations that he is in a relationship with a 36-year-old woman who is a friend of his mother.
Ras Pompy also stated that he does not have any connection with Wesley Eroyi Shoniwa, who alleged in court that the artist was dating his mother.
These claims surfaced after H-Metro reported on a court case involving Wesley, who is facing charges of attempted murder. During the proceedings before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, Wesley claimed that Ras Pompy was involved with his mother. Wesley remains in custody as he awaits bail considerations.
Ras Pompy, through his lawyer Dumisani Mthombeni, refuted the allegations, dismissing them as unfounded and originating from an unreliable source. The lawyer emphasized that Ras Pompy, who is 23 years old, does not associate with younger individuals like Wesley and has never been in a romantic relationship with Wesley’s mother.

Mthombeni clarified that Wesley’s mother works with Ras Pompy’s mother and that Ras Pompy regards her as a maternal figure. The defense highlighted that Ras Pompy has faced public backlash, including insults and numerous phone calls, due to the allegations, which were reported without verification.
“Our client believes your publication failed to provide him the opportunity to respond and verify the allegations. Ras Pompy feels that a simple phone call or message would have sufficed, considering his active presence on social media,” Mthombeni stated.
Ras Pompy has endured significant public ridicule on social media, and the false claims have reached his family, in-laws, colleagues in the music industry, business associates, and friends. The artist has had to explain himself to his wife and family, and he has lost an endorsement deal and other business opportunities as a result of the allegations.
The legal counsel added that Wesley’s mother can confirm that Wesley has been unwell for over two years and may be suffering from mental health issues, possibly linked to substance abuse, which require urgent medical intervention.
Ras Pompy remains focused on his music and farming projects and urges the publication to consider his reputation as an artist by ensuring their reporting is accurate and fair. He asserts that the false and defamatory claims have damaged his brand, harmed his public image, and caused him irreparable harm.
“It is not Ras Pompy’s intention to bring any embarrassment to your publication, either in court or any other public forum. We hope that our client’s concerns will be taken seriously and that appropriate corrective actions will be taken swiftly,” Mthombeni concluded.
