A burglar allegedly broke into a woman’s house and did something unexpected: instead of just stealing, he cleaned, cooked, and even dried the laundry.
The incident took place in Monmouthshire, Wales, on July 16, according to NDTV.
In a strange twist, the burglar left a note that read, “Don’t worry, be happy, eat up and scratch,” adding an odd personal touch to the break-in.
Unsurprisingly, the homeowner didn’t find any humor in the burglar’s actions. The man was sentenced to 22 months in prison for his unusual crime.
“I lived in constant fear after the incident. I didn’t know if the intruder knew me personally or if this was the start of something more threatening. It made me afraid to stay at home alone, so I moved in with a friend,” said the victim in a statement.
Later, on July 29, the same burglar attempted a second break-in but was caught when the property owner’s CCTV system alerted him. The homeowner’s son-in-law arrived to find the burglar, apparently intoxicated and holding a drink.
