Rural Golf Development Takes Centre Stage at President’s Cup

Amm Crowned President's Cup Champion in Thrilling Finish As NetOne Fuels Golf's Future

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — Calls for the expansion of golf into rural communities dominated discussions at the President’s Golf Cup, as stakeholders emphasized inclusivity and grassroots development.

Minister Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe commended organisers and clubs for a successful tournament.

“This is a commendable initiative. We urge all associations and clubs to continue supporting such platforms,” he said.

He stressed the need for rural outreach.

“We must deliberately promote golf in rural areas to discover talent and create economic opportunities,” he said.

NetOne CEO Raphael Mushanawani said the tournament promotes values essential for national development.

“Golf teaches discipline and strategic thinking—qualities that align with Zimbabwe’s development agenda,” he said.

He added that the event stimulates multiple economic sectors.

Africa Golf Federation President Gift Omolo reinforced the economic argument.

“Golf tourism can significantly benefit Zimbabwe if properly harnessed,” he said.

He encouraged investment in facilities and marketing.

Minister Sanyatwe said decentralisation would ensure broader participation.

“Every province must benefit from golf development,” he said.
