A smiling Oscar Pistorius was spotted out in public on Monday, 22 April for the first time since his release from prison.
In pictures that were taken by Netwerk24 photographer Deann Vivier, the 37-year old former paralympian can be seen smiling whilst walking the streets of Pretoria.
As reported, Pistorius was walking towards the Correctional Services offices as per his parole conditions.
Pistorius was granted parole on 05 January 2024, after being sentenced to 6 years in 2014 for shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
His sentence was increased to 13 years and 5 months in 2017, and the decision was taken by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) on 24 November to let Oscar walk free.
In October 2023, the Constitutional Court ruled that the “blade runner’s” parole application be granted, as Pistorius had served half his prison term in March 2021.
Confusion around the dates of Pistorius’ prison sentence meant he served more time in prison because of the initial sentence he received, which was followed by the Supreme Court of Appeal increasing his sentence in 2017.

Terms of Pistorius’ parole include mandatory community service, and attending therapy.
Additionally, Pistorius will not be able to leave the magisterial district of Waterkloof in Pretoria, where he resides, without permission, for the duration of his parole which will be in effect until 2029.
Oscar Pistorius is restricted from conducting media interviews for the duration of his parole.
