Street Scanners Disappear After Crackdown on Rogue Health Services

Street Scanners Disappear After Crackdown on Rogue Health Services

Several agents offering free body scans in the Central Business District (CBD) have vanished from the streets following a warning from authorities about a crackdown. This move comes after the Health Professional Authority (HPA), Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ), and police announced a clampdown on network marketing companies providing magnetic resonance services.

Recently, these agents have been stationed on street corners, urging passersby to undergo free scans using devices like Quantum Analysers and Quantum Resonance Magnetic Body Bio Health Analyser Machines, claiming to detect diseases, toxins, and other health conditions. However, the accuracy of these scans is questionable, and those scanned are often pressured into purchasing herbs prescribed by unverified ‘doctors.’

Following a report by H-Metro, the agents disappeared from their usual spots in the city. Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe president, Dr. Johannes Marisa, raised concerns over people losing money on unverified medications.

“There’s a surge in these so-called healers posing as herbalists,” Dr. Marisa said. He pointed out that registered medical practitioners are regulated, but many of these herbalists operate without proper registration, making their practices potentially illegal and unmonitored.

“People are paying exorbitant prices for products without scientific backing,” added Dr. Marisa. “It’s encouraging to see authorities responding to public concerns about these free scan agents.”

Meanwhile, some former clients expressed relief at the absence of the agents in the CBD. However, a local company, Greenlife Healthcare, continued operating covertly, with some sales representatives still touting for clients without uniforms.

Greenlife Healthcare’s boss, Trevor Tichawona Musekiwa, defended their operations, stating that the company is registered with ZINATHA and authorized to sell herbs. He explained that body scans are not mandatory and are intended to inform customers of potential health issues.

Musekiwa claimed ignorance of his agents still soliciting people on the streets and insisted that Greenlife Healthcare had nothing to hide. However, during a visit by H-Metro to one of their offices on George Silundika Avenue, agents admitted to not wearing uniforms, citing a “Civvies Day” as the reason for their casual appearance while continuing to seek potential clients.
