Sugar Chagonda, a former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation reporter who now serves as the spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company, has been implicated in allegations of an adulterous relationship with Chipo Bizure, a local former actress.
Bizure was arrested for allegedly harassing Chagonda’s wife, Fortunate Mapfumo.
According to H-Metro, Bizure initially pleaded guilty to two charges last Friday but changed her plea to not guilty when she returned to court on Monday. Her trial has been scheduled to commence on June 23.
The court heard that on June 8, around 2 a.m., Bizure went to Mapfumo’s residence in Avonlea and repeatedly rang the intercom, demanding to see her boyfriend, who is Mapfumo’s husband.
After being asked to return in the morning, Bizure allegedly began honking her car horn and banging on the gate. When she realized the gate was unlocked, she entered the property and damaged two bar stools on the veranda.

Mapfumo and her son were awakened by the noise and went outside, prompting Bizure to flee to her car, where she continued honking the horn until 5:30 a.m. In court, Bizure altered her plea, stating that she only honked once and that the damage to the bar stools was accidental, expressing a willingness to compensate Mapfumo.
Around 6:30 a.m., as Mapfumo was leaving for work, she found Bizure’s car blocking the gate. Bizure allegedly refused to move her vehicle, claiming that one of her tires had been deflated by Mapfumo’s gardener. This led Mapfumo to call the police, resulting in Bizure’s arrest.
Separately, Mapfumo appeared in the same court on charges under the Domestic Violence Act, accused by her husband of unreasonably disposing of household items, which included depriving him of access to his cell phones.
However, the court found that the allegations did not support the charges, leading the State to withdraw the charges against her before a plea was entered. The State indicated that it may summon Mapfumo in the future if they decide to pursue theft charges, pending authorization from the Prosecutor General.
