On Tuesday, during a violent rainstorm, three family members of Kudakwashe Munsaka, the leader of Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ), were hit by lightning.
Munsaka stated in an interview with The Standard on Saturday that lightning struck his aunt and her two grandkids in Binga, Matabeleland North Province. Says he:
Actually, under Chief Siabuwa, a calamity befell the Binga people in Chabwidi village, especially my family.
At around 11 p.m. on the eve of the 18th.
Lightning struck my aunt Belitha Munkuli (79), her grandkids Meekness Munkuli (11), Accept Bulemu (5), and a neighbour named Rudo Muzamba.
The thatched cabin they were resting in was burned by lightning that struck it.
Because they had locked the door from the inside, neighbours who attempted to come and save them were unsuccessful. Thus, there are now four deaths in our group.
According to reports, FAZ is a group connected to the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and part of the ZANU PF.
The organisation gained reputation in the March 2023 ZANU PF primary elections and gained much more attention in the August Harmonised Elections when members of the group were accused of intimidating voters, particularly in rural regions.
