Trevor Dongo Opens Up About Struggles, Threatens Suicide Over Viral Rumors

Renowned rhythm and blues artist Trevor Dongo has expressed thoughts of ending his life due to what he describes as “toxic rumors” that circulated on social media last week.

These rumors falsely claimed that his apartment had been set on fire by a spurned lover.

In a post, Dongo shared his frustration, saying:

“The level of toxicity from some bloggers and journalists today is unbelievable. I’m gradually coming to terms with everything, and that’s why I gathered some strength to write this.

False stories are being spread, with various versions made up to gain attention and damage my reputation. Those who truly know me have the right information, but others are spreading lies just for social media profit.”

He also described the losses he suffered, which included valuable possessions that had taken years to accumulate—furniture, clothes, shoes, studio equipment, and company documents.

“I sustained serious burns after I tried to save what I could from the fire, but it was impossible to recover everything,” he added. “I’m in deep pain. I’ve always been a good father and friend. My life feels ruined, but I want to thank my true friends and family, including Zimbabwean musicians like Jimmy Xtra Large, Kelvin Motsi, Mabvuramiti, my doctor, my apostle, and my lawyer. Macdonald MacDee Chidavaenzi, I’ve always been a loyal friend and brother to you since 2006. I don’t know where I’ve gone wrong.”

Dongo went on to express his hopelessness: “I’m losing faith, and I don’t see any reason to keep going. All the new music we recorded will just be released for people to remember me by. Those who spread lies should look to their own families for survival, living off the money they make from putting others down.”

Dongo, a musician from Highfield, is known for his distinctive vocal talent.
