Two individuals, Ancelimo Musengi, also known as Norman Sithole, aged 47, hailing from Velapezi Farm in Epworth, and Walter Mapfumo, aged 36, from Dera Village in St John’s Chikwaka, have been apprehended in connection with a series of armed robberies in and around Harare.
According to Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the arrest of Musengi and Mapfumo has led to the resolution of 35 robbery cases. As a result, Musengi has been sentenced to 30 years and 11 months in prison.

The criminal activities of Musengi and Mapfumo spanned from January 2023 to February 2024. The two, operating as opportunistic criminals, targeted victims who had slowed down, stopped, or encountered vehicle breakdowns at corner Delpot along Seke Road. Armed with iron bars, catapults, and an Okapi knife, they would ambush unsuspecting individuals, robbing them of their valuables.
