Two women from Guruve have been arrested on charges of murder after they allegedly killed a man Brighton Mapira who attempted to rape one of them.
According to Police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe, the women, identified as Swemma Manuel (33) and Letwin Chisango, who are neighbors, are accused in the incident.
Inspector Mundembe recounted the events, stating, “In Guruve, Brighton Mapira (age unspecified) attempted to rape Swemma Manuel (31), who called for help. Letwin Chisango, a neighbor, responded and intervened armed with an axe handle.”

“Upon arrival, Chisango witnessed Brighton Mapira attempting to rape Manuel. Although he managed to escape, the two women pursued and apprehended him. They took turns striking his head until he lost consciousness. Subsequently, they tied him to a tree with a rope.”
Manuel’s husband, Brian Mazhambe, was notified and arrived to inspect the body. Upon confirming Mapira’s death, he reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of Manuel and Chisango.
The police urge the public to refrain from resorting to violence and advocate for peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
