Vambe Says He Never Evaded Police, Pledges Cooperation With Authorities

Gardener Confesses to Stealing US$70k

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) announced on Saturday, 16 May 2026, that Tonee Tapiwa Vambe, representing OrganiCare, a fully registered and law-abiding organisation, was being sought as an escapee or runaway suspect in a case.

However, this information was far from the truth, as he was only summoned on the evening of Monday, 18 May 2026, to report to Harare Central Police Station so that he could be accompanied to court on 19 May 2026.

On the morning of Tuesday, 19 May 2026, Vambe presented himself at Harare Central Police Station together with his legal counsel, where he faced charges under the Medicines Act.

He was subsequently released on free bail.

Vambe, representing OrganiCare, wishes to inform the public that he is a law-abiding citizen and would never evade law enforcement agencies, as both he and the organisation are fully compliant with the relevant regulatory authorities and are committed to addressing the matter through the proper legal channels.

He further states that all other statements published concerning him and the organisation he represents are false and were intended to defame both himself and OrganiCare. He believes the matter may also be linked to business competition, alleging that the Zimbabwe Republic Police were used as pawns by the organisation’s competitors.

Vambe also wishes to clarify to the general public that claims alleging that groundnut shells (“makoko enzungu”) were part of the medicines are false. He further states that a complaint is being made against the ZRP for allegedly unlawfully seizing exhibits from OrganiCare and proceeding with what he describes as an unlawful arrest based on false claims, without conducting due diligence.
