VP Chiwenga Tells Harare East Voters Not To Make The Same “Mistake” in August 2023.

In the upcoming by-election, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has urged voters in the Harare East constituency to vote for ZANU PF candidate, Kiven Mutimbanyoka, stating that they should make amends for “the mistake” they made in the August 2023 harmonised elections, NewsDay reported.

Allan Markham, the candidate for Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), won the seat in the harmonised elections; however, Markham resigned from Parliament after the party’s former leader Nelson Chamisa quit CCC towards the end of January this year, claiming.

Speaking to ZANU PF supporters on Sunday at a rally at Chikurubi Damview, Chiwenga recalled that the Second Chimurenga officially began on April 28, 1897.

The nation was informed by VP Chiwenga that spirit mediums Mbuya Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi, who served as the inspiration for the First Chimurenga, were decapitated on April 28, the day following the by-elections, which is when the by-election is scheduled to take place. VP Chiwenga said:

We have the opportunity to rectify the error of the August 2023 elections and restore the political status quo                 thanks to the Harare East by-elections.

We cannot abuse this chance since our problems will not go away. April 27th is a significant day for both young          people and adults alike.

Today marks the last day that Mbuya Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi will be seen in person since on the 28th, the day   we will be commemorating Mutimbanyoka’s victory, they were decapitated along Tongogara Street following their   execution sentence.

The second liberation struggle in Chinhoyi began on the 28th, the day we should be celebrating our triumph.

Therefore, the dates 27 and 28 are important ones in reference to the upcoming by-election that we are excited   about. We must never forget Zimbabwe’s origins.
