Controversial war veteran Cde Blessed Geza is embroiled in allegations of fraud, perjury, and corruption after failing to pay US$1,250,000 for a piece of land in Harare.
He is accused of intimidating and harassing prosecutors and police officers involved in the case, leading several officials to withdraw due to death threats.
In 2020, Cde Geza and former ARDA chairman Mr. Basil Nyabadza agreed on the sale of a portion of Plot 5 Spitzkop in Harare for US$1,362,000. Cde Geza made staggered payments totaling US$112,000 and committed to paying the remaining US$1,250,000 before October 2021.

He also undertook to pay a US$100,000 cash deposit in four installments of US$25,000, due on November 19, 2020, December 10, 2020, December 31, 2020, and January 21, 2021. Despite these commitments, Cde Geza failed to make the payments and falsely claimed under oath that he had settled his debts with Mr. Nyabadza.
He allegedly secured a fake Deed of Transfer Number 6867/73 and obtained fraudulent documentation of the land sale, possibly by bribing officials in the Ministry of Local Government.
Over four years, Cde Geza has not fulfilled his payment obligations, constituting a material breach of the sale agreement. He has initiated legal action against Mr. Nyabadza, alleging that the latter lacked title deeds for the land.
However, Cde Geza unlawfully obtained a subdivision permit, raising questions about how he acquired it without title deeds, suggesting he may have bypassed legal channels or used fraudulent means.
Cde Geza has repeatedly reported Mr. Nyabadza to the police, but his allegations have been dismissed due to a lack of evidence and failure to provide proof of payment. He has also harassed individuals involved in the case.
On September 4, 2024, during a vetting process at the Harare Magistrates Court, Cde Geza interrupted Prosecutor Miss Maphosa, accusing her of bias, and threatened Mr. Nyabadza, stating, “I will deal with you Nyabadza, if there will be blood, let there be blood.” Days later, on September 7, he allegedly sent 15 rowdy youths to Mr. Nyabadza’s property, threatening violence, and repeated these actions on September 11.
Despite initiating legal proceedings against Mr. Nyabadza, Cde Geza has failed to appear for court hearings, resulting in multiple postponements.
