Businessman Wicknell Chivayo, a controversial figure, made an unexpected appearance at the trial of prominent Zimbabwean entrepreneur Mike Chimombe and former government official Moses Mpofu. The two are facing charges related to the alleged mismanagement of public funds.
Chivayo’s presence at the trial added an element of intrigue, particularly given his recent receipt of a multi-million-dollar government contract.
The case has attracted significant public interest, especially after Chimombe and Mpofu testified in an earlier court session that a portion of funds from Chivayo’s $40 million contract to supply election materials may have been funneled to unnamed government officials.
