Woman Blames Husband’s Mistress for Repeated STI Infections

A Harare woman has accused her husband’s long-term mistress of repeatedly infecting him with sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Batsirai Musendwa claims that her husband has been involved in a seven-year affair with Praise Munaki, whom she holds responsible for his recurring STI infections. Despite the circumstances, Batsirai says her husband unfairly blames her each time he contracts an infection.

On Valentine’s Eve, tensions boiled over when Batsirai spotted Praise in Harare’s CBD and physically confronted her, accusing her of trying to destroy her marriage.

The altercation led Praise to file for a protection order, bringing the matter before Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga.

Speaking in court, Batsirai expressed her frustration over Praise’s alleged involvement with her husband.

“I attacked her because I am tired of my husband’s behavior. Praise has given him STIs countless times, and he keeps blaming me for it,” she told the magistrate.

Batsirai further claimed that Praise had recently given birth and was attempting to convince her husband that he was the father. However, she dismissed the claim, stating that Praise had a habit of dating multiple married men.

In her defense, Praise told the court that Batsirai attacked and harassed her in public, demanding that she end the affair.

“She assaulted me in town, accusing me of dating her husband. I fear for my safety because she has been threatening to harm me. I wouldn’t be surprised if she hires people to kill me,” Praise said.

After hearing both sides, the magistrate issued a reciprocal protection order, restraining both women from engaging in further conflict.
