ZANU PF has enlisted the support of churches for the upcoming 44th Independence Day main celebrations slated for Buhera, Manicaland province, next month. The clergy will convene at Murambinda growth point to offer prayers and rally support for the event.
ZANU PF’s national chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri, will grace the occasion as the guest of honour.
Confirming the national prayer day for the Independence Day celebrations, ZANU PF Manicaland provincial chairperson, Tawanda Mukodza, expressed gratitude for the opportunity given by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to host the main celebrations in Buhera District.
Mukodza stated, “We are going to have a national prayer day in Murambinda on Saturday. We have invited several churches, especially those from Manicaland and other areas, to come and pray for the Day. We will utilize the church structures to mobilize their members to attend in their numbers.”

Various legislators and stakeholders, including ZANU PF leadership, have been invited to participate in the national prayer day.
Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister of State, Misheck Mugadza, affirmed their readiness for the national prayer service, emphasizing that churches from both Manicaland province and beyond are expected to attend in large numbers.
Last year, ZANU PF mobilized churches to support President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s re-election campaign.
Today, the ZANU PF provincial leadership will convene a provincial coordination committee meeting to prepare for the Independence Day celebrations.
As part of the festivities, the Independence Day torch will journey through the Butcher area in Rusape, commemorating the sacrifices made during the liberation struggle. The torch will then proceed to Dzapasi Assembly Point before reaching its final destination at Murambinda B Secondary School, where the celebrations will be held.
