Zanu PF Legislators Tackle Drug Abuse Through Sports Tournaments

Mudzi District Zanu PF legislators

Mudzi District, Zanu PF legislators are tackling drug and substance abuse among the youth with sports tournaments. Their goal is to keep young people engaged in healthy activities and educate them about the dangers of drugs.

Last Saturday, Mudzi North legislator Benjamin Musweweshiri organized a sports event at Kotwa High School. The tournament brought together many young people, who participated in sports and learned about the harmful effects of drug abuse from health professionals.

Musweweshiri, a supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, spoke about the importance of promoting a drug-free society. He believes that drug abuse harms communities and is committed to spreading this message throughout his constituency.

He emphasized that the sports tournaments are part of a broader strategy that includes community engagement and awareness campaigns. The local response has been positive, with many young people participating and showing enthusiasm.

Mudzi West legislator Knowledge Kaitano also supports this initiative. He has organized similar tournaments in his area, noting that drug abuse affects many young people and disrupts their lives. Kaitano’s previous tournament in March was well-received, and he plans to continue using sports as a tool to fight drug abuse.

Youths at the Kotwa High School event appreciated the legislators’ efforts. Tonderai Muchenje said the tournaments provide a positive distraction from negative influences, while Melody Chinyama found the information valuable for their future.

A health worker praised the MPs for their leadership in this fight, noting that their efforts to educate and engage young people are crucial. The event also included prizes like sports uniforms and monetary rewards, which motivated more youth to participate and learn about drug abuse.
